CHAPTER III
When we last left our heroes they were working on their assignment to keep Gracie the Fashion Diva safe from the unknown evil power that threatens to eliminate everyone’s fashion sense. But protecting Gracie is proving harder than it sounds, when the Diva keeps insulting the heroes fashion knowledge.
“Now, the first thing to know about fashion, are the rules,” said Gracie authoritatively, “Number one, never wear white after Labor Day. Just don’t. Number two, never wear black with navy. Number three, gentlemen’s shoes and belt should always match. Number three, never wear a full length coat with a full length skirt. You’ll look like you walked out of the eighteen nineties! Number four…” Gracie droned on, but Walker and Filbert weren’t listening.
“How long do you think this will take?” whispered Filbert. “At the rate she’s going? Probably till next September!” groaned Walker. By now the sun had risen high in the sky and all of the animals where going about their daily chores. Slowly a few animals made their way over to the town hall plaza. Walker said, “observe everyone carefully Filbert. One of them might be the evil power.” Filbert nodded.
Chevre stopped and talked to Gracie, then Gracie made some loud comment on how her style was; “Like an eight year old”, and Chevre left. Then Curly jogged by and stopped to talk to Gracie. She hated the sweatband he was wearing. He jogged away in a huff. Then Purrl stopped, she got insulted too.
“Geez,” said Filbert, “anyone of these animals could be the evil power. They all have good reason to hate Gracie.” “Your right. But something tells me that no one we’ve seen yet is truly evil,” said Walker.
They stood in the plaza until the sun was just starting to sink into the horizon, and yet nothing happened. Walker was puzzled, if there truly was an evil power bent on destroying people’s fashion sense, why wouldn’t they try to eliminate Gracie? Just as he was thinking this, the Mayor walked out of the town hall and walked over to the trio.
“Well, well, well. If it isn’t Ms. Gracie!” wheezed the Mayor, “I must say I am a fan of your designs young lady!” Gracie just gave him a weak smile. “Oh, and what do we have here? Walker and Filbert! What are you doing here? Helping Ms. Gracie out today are you?” “Yes sir,” said Walker, “We’re fans of her style too. Aren’t we Filbert?” “Oh yeah! Totally.” said Filbert with a touch of sarcasm in his voice. But Walker shot him a warning glance, and Filbert stopped at once. “Well, that’s fine!” cackled the Mayor, “That’s really fine….” The Mayor drifted off into silence and started to stare around the plaza aimlessly. The four animals stood there for a few minutes of awkward silence. The Mayor finally cleared his throat and said, “Well, I better get on home, it’s getting late. You take care now Ms. Gracie! Good night boys!” and he waddled off into the dusk.
“Goodness, I really must go!” said Gracie abruptly, “I’ve spent all the time I care to in this backwater burg!” Filbert rolled his eyes, and Walker quickly opened her car door for her. Gracie slid into the front seat, Walker closed the door to the car, and Gracie put the key in the ignition.
The engine sputtered and died. They all looked nervously at the car, and Gracie tried again, but the card wouldn’t start. “NO!” cried Gracie and Filbert. “Here, let me look under the hood,” said Walker, although he knew nothing about cars.
He had lifted the hood and was looking inside, when a voice called out of the darkness, “You won’t be able to fix that car.” The three animals jumped and looked wildly for the speaker, but all they saw was dark trees. “Who said that!” demanded Gracie, as she got out of her car.
Slowly a form moved out of the darkness, “I did.” “Well,” said Gracie, fear now evident in her voice, “who are you?” “I,” said the figure “am Professor Polyester, Gracie.” “Can you fix my --” Gracie started but never finished, because at that very moment there was a bright flash of purple light, and her voice stopped. Walker dropped the hood of the car, and rushed over to where Gracie was standing. Filbert looked up at Walker his eyes wide, “She’s….PLAID!”

Fashion Lad Friday: Chapter 2
CHAPTER II
We last left our heroes as they were about to get their next assignment.
Walker leaned closer to Brewster to better here what he was about to say. “All right then, your next assignment is to protect the fashion missionary Gracie on her mission for fashion education and improvement for all animals,” said Brewster gravely.
“Gracie!” cried Filbert, “But she’s the biggest snob in the world of fashion!” “I told you it wasn’t going to be easy,” said Brewster. “Why must we protect her? Can’t someone else do it? Why not the police?” asked Walker. “Because, the police don’t know what we know,” said Brewster.
He looked around the Roost to make sure no one was listening, then in a low whisper he said, “We’ve been getting reports that there is a powerful evil force at work. A force bent on destroying people’s fashion sense.” “How diabolical!” squeaked Filbert. “We don’t know where this power is so we are being extra cautious. Gracie is a natural target. So you will protect her.”
Walker looked at Filbert, “What do you say Style Boy?” “I say, even though Gracie is a snob, for the sake of fashion it is our duty to protect her!” said Filbert earnestly. “Very good,” replied Walker, “We’ll leave at once Chief.” Brewster nodded, “Good luck and be careful.”
The two heroes walked out of the Roost, past the still snoozing Blathers, and walked out into the mid-morning sunshine.
“Gracie will be by the town hall,” said Walker. “Alright, let’s go!” said Filbert, with a touch of excitement in his voice. They walked over to the town hall plaza. There was Gracie, she was standing by her car, looking as sarcastic as ever.
“Good morning Gracie!” said Walker cheerfully. Gracie looked at them and said, “Good morning. Is this the fashion disaster club assembled?” Filbert’s blue fur had a pink tinge, “NO! –I mean, uh, we’re fans. Yeah. That’s right! Fans of your wonderful style.”
Gracie looked at them skeptically. “Really?” she asked. “Oh totally!” said Walker, “And we were wondering if we could job shadow you today!” Filbert gave Walker a look that said, you are completely nuts, you know that right?
But Walker stepped on his toe and Filbert snapped out of it, “Oh yeah! We’d love that!” “Job shadowing?” asked Gracie. “You know,” said Walker, “when someone follows you around to learn how to do your job. Job shadowing.” “Oh,” said Gracie, a tad shocked, “Well if you two really want to. I don’t see why not. Who knows, maybe you’ll even learn how to dress without looking like a circus clown.” Filbert’s fur now looked quite red around the edges. “Hooray,” he said through clenched teeth. “Thank you Gracie!” said Walker with false enthusiasm. This is going to be a long day, he thought.

Fashion Lad Friday: Chapter 1
A while back I wrote a fan fiction about animal crossing! I posted it on ACC but that was ages ago, so the thread got deleted. So here I am going to start it up again. Every Friday there will be a chapter! Ready? Here goes...
Prologue:
Once upon a time there was a town, it was like any ordinary town. It had a town hall and a museum and a couple of shops, and all the animals lived there happily. But in this town, there was a secret. In this town there was an animal like no other, an animal with special powers, working to defend the world. They call him Fashion Lad!
CHAPTER I
Walker was sleeping. He was dreaming about cake, and cookies, and pie. He was just about to take a piece of pecan pie from a rainbow colored raccoon when a loud beeping woke him up. His alarm clock continued beeping. Walker reached over and tried hit the snooze button, but then the radio blared on. “Good morning animals! It’s another beautiful day today, and to help you get that day started right we are going to play you one of our favorite songs! K.K. Metal!” The loud music blared from the alarm clock radio, and Walker tried frantically to turn it off. Soon he found the right button and there was silence.
Walker sighed. This morning isn’t getting off to a good start, he thought. He got up, pulled on his favorite 67 shirt, and walked out the door of his house. Breakfast at the roost will make things right, he thought to himself. He walked through the sleepy town, all the animals were still waking up. He walked by Octavian’s house, Octavian was just poking his head out the door. “Good morning,” called Walker. “Humph,” said Octavian and slammed the door. He walked up the museum and Curly jogged by. “Good morning!” called Curly, “Great day for some jazzercise!” “Uh-huh,” replied Walker as Curly trotted off. “No way am I doing jazzercise!” said Walker to himself.
He walked into the museum where Blathers was drifting off. He crept by him and went down the stairs to the roost. The smell of strong coffee perked him up at once. “What will it be?” asked Brewster. “One coffee please,” said Walker, feeling a bit more chipper now. Brewster poured the coffee into a cup and slid it down the counter to Walker. “Drink up.” “Thanks!” Walker started to sip his coffee just then Pelly and Pete walked in. They were talking to each other but stopped when they noticed Walker. Pelly motioned to Pete that she would take a seat over in the corner. Pete walked up to the counter, “Two coffee’s please.” “Coming right up,” said Brewster. He poured out two cups, and Pete picked them up and went to join Pelly. Walker continued to sip his coffee, and Pelly started to giggle in the corner when Walker’s best friend Filbert walked in.
“Morning Filbert!” “Good morning Walker!” piped Filbert, as he sat down at the counter next to him. “What’ll ya have?” asked Brewster. “One coffee please!” “One java coming right up.” “Thanks.” Filbert started to sip his coffee too, just then Brewster leaned over the counter and said, “Walker, Filbert. There’s something we need to discus.” “Oh like what Brewster?” asked Walker. “If it’s about my tab, I’ll promise I will get it to you tomorrow, I’m waiting on the turnips,” said Filbert. “No, no. It’s about your assignment,” Brewster said, in a low whisper. “Oh!” said Filbert, “You mean an assignment for Fashion Lad and his trusty sidekick Style Boy?” “SHHHH! Not so loud!” cried Brewster, “Do you want to blow your cover?” “Sorry.” “What’s the assignment Chief?” asked Walker. Brewster looked nervously at the corner where Pelly and Pete where sitting. Just then Pete said loudly, “Well we better get to work or Tortimer will kill us!” Pelly looked started as she glanced at the clock on the wall, “Mercy! Is that the time?” “Have a good day.” Pete called to the trio at the counter, as he and Pelly walked out of the Roost.
The three animals watched them leave then Brewster said cautiously, “Fashion Lad, I have your assignment. But it won’t be easy.” “I’m in,” said Walker. “What about you Style Boy?” “Count me in too,” said Filbert. “All right then, your assignment is…”
